Meet the Artist - Dr. David Byers

Picture
David Byers was born and raised in the foothills of the northeast Georgia mountains. He is a dentist and has been a dental hygiene educator since 2000. David believes we were all placed on this earth to create. Whether we choose to create ideas, technological advances, relationships, opportunities, or works of art, the choice is completely up to us. David has always enjoyed projects that allow him to demonstrate his artistic side by drawing, painting, and learning to create with wood. This is how he recharges his batteries. During the COVID-19 pandemic, as he was spending more time at home, David decided to develop his skills turning wood with a lathe. He started simple by turning cups, mugs, and small bowls with green poplar and sourwood. As his skills and knowledge began to improve, he was drawn to the interesting properties of incorporating epoxy resin into his projects, and this is the route he has chosen to invest his attention. He hopes you will enjoy his attempts to find and accentuate the natural beauty in unusual pieces of wood with the addition of resin.
